How long should it take for antibiotics to work on an abcessed tooth?

I had a bad experience with a root c, my dentist did the wrong tooth, so by the time he got me out of pain, I had been invaded by the exorcist, screaming and cussing him, the pain pills didn't touch that pain until he finally got the nerve. I watch him cringe every time he comes to work on me now! Antibiotics usually begin to work 24 hours after you begin to take them. When I get a new prescription I always take two to get them into my system more quickly. The abscess will go away, leave it alone. Call Monday as soon as he opens and let him know if you are still swollen, you might need stronger antibiotics.
